CELEBRATING INTERNATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS DAY
December 10 marks International Human Rights Day. On December 10 in 1948, the United Nations adopted the Universal Declaration, which for the first time described in one place the rights that everyone has. The declaration has been translated into 375 languages and dialects, making it the most translated document in the world, and the date of December 10 has become International Human Rights Day.
Days like this remind us that it is humanity that makes us real people. "A person's strength doubles when they show sympathy, compassion, philanthropy and care for the people around them. So let's be human! Let us be good human beings and let us be an example for our children with humane deeds!”, appealed Dr. Eleonora Lilova, Chairperson of the SACP.
On the Day of the Christian Family and Youth in 2019, the State Agency for Child Protection organized the initiative to award the badge "Ambassador of Good" on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. The Agency received hundreds of stories about good deeds and humanity shown from all over the country, and 10 heroes out of them were awarded during the celebration of Good at the National Palace of Culture.
Although 2020 is a difficult and strange year for all of us due to the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, the SACP has once again collected stories of people who helped a child and/or their family in a difficult time, trouble, a serious accident and changed their life. This year, more than 20 individuals and organizations have been nominated to receive the award for a good deed.
Given the emergency situation, the Ambassadors of Good will receive their awards early next year. The most exciting of all received stories will be promoted by the SACP once again, in order to be an example and to spread good deeds to all of us.
Let's not wait for an international day to be good! The world can be far more beautiful if we love each other and give somebody a hand with a good deed every day. Let's do good to the people next to us! Let's give happiness together! These are a part of the messages and hopes of the entire team of the State Agency for Child Protection.
