SACP WITH AN APPEAL AGAINST THE EXPLOITATION OF CHILD LABOR
Today marks the World Day Against Child Labor. It has been designated as such since 2002 and aims to put an end to the exploitation of children, which hinders their education and has serious health consequences.
Over the years, the State Agency for Child Protection has received signals for children who work outdoors - stalls in markets, construction sites or in holiday villages in high summer temperatures. Since the beginning of the year, the SACP has received only 4 signals for children who are victims of labor exploitation. In case of such a signal about a child, the Agency immediately refers to the Prosecutor's Office and the Labor Inspectorate.
Bulgarian legislation is fully synchronized with international legislation on the protection of children from employment. The Labor Code regulates special protection of minors who can work only with the permission of the Labor Inspectorate.
