SACP TAKES ACTION ON THE CASE OF VIOLENCE AGAINST A 3-YEAR-OLD CHILD SHARED ON SOCIAL MEDIA
Regarding the wide public interest in an act of violence against a 3-year-old child by his mother, as well as many signals received by the State Agency for Child Protection through the National Telephone Line for Children 116 111, as well as through the agency's website, and publications on social media, immediate actions and measures have been taken to protect the rights of the child.
The SACP immediately notified the head of the child protection department at the child's place of residence, where the case was investigated and protection actions and measures were taken. Specialists from the Social Assistance Directorate, as a structure of the Social Assistance Agency whose measures are subject to judicial control, work on-the-spot with the child and its parents. The State Agency for Child Protection will monitor the actions of social workers so that the child is placed with its relatives. A request was made to the General Directorate for Fighting Organized Crime at the Ministry of Interior, requesting that the video be removed from social media in order to protect the child’s identity and personal dignity.
The SACP strongly condemns all such cases of violence and unacceptable methods of parenting. The intransigence of society to such cases is understandable, as evidenced by the numerous signals and the demand for assistance from the competent institutions. In this regard, the Agency reminds that anyone who becomes aware that a child needs protection should notify the child protection authorities in a timely manner, including in such cases a signal can be submitted through the National Telephone Line for Children 116 111. The line is round the clock, works seven days a week and reacts quickly and adequately to protect the rights and interests of the child.
